Telecom regulator studying new regulations for mobile number portability
The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) is studying the impact of new regulations for the mobile number portability (MNP), which allows mobile customers to switch to other operators without having to change their mobile numbers. The service is expected to be made available for Telecom Egypt (TE) [ETEL.EY] once it starts offering 4G services. The new regulations include the option to switch from TE’s mobile network to one of the mobile network operators’ (MNO) respective networks (and vice versa) only six months (down from one year) from the activation of the TE sim.
