Saudi tourism commission calls for 48,000 new hotel rooms
The Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) has reportedly called for the addition of more than 48,000 new hotels rooms to accommodate growing foreign and domestic visitor numbers. The SCTH said tourist numbers are estimated to reach c140mn by 2020, of which 128mn are domestic tourists and 13mn are foreign. Domestic tourist spending is expected to rise from SAR50bn to SAR78bn in 2020, while foreign tourist spending is expected to increase from SAR12bn to SAR23bn. (Gulf Business)
