Saudi Arabia said to implement new Saudisation plan starting next month
The Ministry of Labor and Social Development will reportedly implement a new Saudisation strategy based on a points system next month to increase the employment of Saudi nationals in various sectors. The programme will also consider the average period of stay of employed Saudis in a firm and the number of Saudis drawing high salaries. The progress of Saudisation in a firm will be estimated every week for a total of 26 weeks in a row, and a firm will get 10 points for every 1% growth in Saudisation. A firm will get a maximum of 1,000 points, assuming 100% Saudisation of jobs in the organisation. The Saudization of women will be considered depending on the number of women registered with the firm through the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI). A firm will get two points for each 1% of Saudi women employed with a maximum of 200 points to be earned. A firm will receive four points for each year spent by a Saudi worker in the organisation, and a maximum of 100 points if a Saudi worker stays employed for 25 years. The average salary of Saudi workers in a firm will be calculated after adding the salaries of all Saudi workers - six points will be given for every SAR1k, and a firm can earn a maximum of 270 points. For every 1% Saudis getting high salaries a firm will get 0.1 point with a maximum of 10 points. (The Saudi Gazette 2016)
