The Electricity and Consumer Protection Regulatory Authority prepared scenarios to be presented to the Cabinet for electricity prices for the upcoming FY19/20. The new prices are scheduled to be approved by the end of May. The Ministry of Electricity told Al Borsa that the rate of increase will depend on consumption rates, and income and expenditure research, with a higher price for categories that consume more than 1,000KW. The Ministry added that the new prices will be applied in July and that the low-income bracket will not feel the rise in electricity prices.
