Yields on T-bills continue to rise in Thursday’s auction

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) issued EGP12.3bn in T-bills on Thursday, lower than the planned EGP18bn for the auction. Yields on the EGP6.1bn six-month tenor rose by 12bps to 17.441%, and yields on the EGP6.2bn 12-month bill increased by 9bps to 17.268%. This came as the CBE partially capped the rise in yields by only accepting 68% of the required amount on both tenors, as maximum yields were as high as 17.489% and 17.268, respectively.
