NBE, Banque Misr to raise limits on card usage abroad
Banque Misr decided to raise limits on credit card usage abroad to USD2.5k for classic cards instead of USD1k, to USD4k for gold cards instead of USD2k, and USD8k for platinum cards instead of USD4k. The bank's Chairperson pointed out that the bank had collected USD10mn throughout Thursday and Friday from clients selling USD, but could not yet provide an estimate of USD bought by the bank on Saturday. The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) would also raise the limit previously imposed on its cards for usage abroad on Sunday, the bank's Vice chairperson said. NBE has approved selling USD300 to travelers who are not clients, whereas travelers who have had accounts at the bank for at least six months can obtain USD1,000. Proof of travel will have to be presented in both cases. (Daily News Egypt)
