Ministry of Public Enterprise mulling merger of seven automotive firms
The Ministry of Public Enterprise is examining the potential of merging seven automotive firms to boost their competitive ability. Some of these firms are Al Handasiah, Nile Auto, Spring and Transport Needs Manufacturing Co., and Al Nasr Auto. Egyptian firms can only compete through mergers that combine manufacturing and retail operations and by focusing on spare parts production rather than on producing whole cars, Minister of Public Enterprise Khaled Badawi said.
