Ministry of Electricity finalises 2018-30 electricity plan, to add c52k MW
The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has finalised its electricity plan for 2018-30 that will seek to add 51,700 megawatts (MW) of new capacity, c25,000 MW of which will be from renewable energy sources (c16,000MW in solar energy and c9,000 in wind). Investments during the period are expected to total USD135.5 billion, according to a copy of the plan as quoted by Al Mal newspaper. The plan includes the addition of coal-powered plants starting 2019/2020 in addition to a nuclear plant (1,200 MW) in 2023/2024. (Al Mal)
