General Cable Egypt fully acquired by Lebanese PE firm
General Cable Egypt (GC Egypt) has been fully acquired (100%) by Emerging Investment Partners (EIP), a Lebanese private equity firm, marking the Lebanese firm’s first acquisition in the Egyptian market, according to EIP’s managing director, Wasim Heneine, speaking to Al Mal. General Cables manufactures a number of wire and cable products, including low-voltage insulated power and control cables, building wire, instrumentation cable, halogen-free power and control cables, and overhead power cables. EIP bought GC Egypt from General Cable, a major US based cable manufacturer that owns 42 cable production facilities worldwide with annual revenues of c.USD6bn. EIP plans on changing the acquired company’s name from General Cable Egypt to BICC Egypt, which was the cable manufacturer’s name before it was acquired by General Cable in 2010.
