TE and Liquid Telecom sign MoU to enable Liquid Telecom to complete fibre broadband network from Cape Town to Cairo
Telecom Egypt (TE) [ETEL.CA] announced the signing of an MoU with Liquid Telecom, which will enable Liquid Telecom to complete a terrestrial fibre network from Cape Town to Cairo, according to a company disclosure. Liquid Telecom will link its network from Sudan to TE’s network via a new cross-border connection. The network spans 60,000km and passes through all the Southern, Central and East African countries and has now reached the border between Sudan and Egypt. The Cape-Town-to-Cairo network, (“the One Africa” broadband network) has been under construction for over 10 years.
