Sheikh Mohammed approves 2019 transport masterplan
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid al-Maktoum has approved the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority’s (RTA) Traffic and Transportation Plan 2030. The first phase of the plan will include building and completing: i) the construction of the remaining phases of the Al-Shindagha Crossing; ii) the infrastructure work of the Jewel of the Creek; iii) an intersection between Jebel Ali Road and Al-Hebab and Al-Qudra roads; iv) Marine transport stations for the Dubai Water Canal and Business Bay; v) Expansion of the Burj Khalifa metro station; vi) New designs for metro buses; vii) 36 bridges; and viii) Improvements of the Airport Road including the construction of five bridges and tunnels that will help increase the capacity of the airport road to 5,000 vehicles per hour. These projects will be carried out over five phases, which will start in mid-2017, with completion set for November 2019, according to the Emirates News Agency. (MEED)
