SCA denies selling 49% of SCZone

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) denied on Thursday media reports that the Egyptian government has sold 49% of the Suez Canal Special Economic Zone (SCZone). The statement made it clear that the SCA started negotiations with Dubai Ports World (DP World) to set up a company to be in charge of developing 45 square kilometres of the industrial zone in Ain Sokhna under the usufruct system. The SCA will own 51% of shares of this company, while DP World will have a 49% share, the statement said.
