Saudi cement sector local sales volumes down 25% Y-o-Y in Feb-17
Saudi cement sector's local sales volume nose-dove 25% Y-o-Y in February 2017 to c4.0mn tonnes, following a 16% Y-o-Y drop in January 2017, which was driven by further demand slowdown on low construction activities. Local sales volume for covered stocks dropped 28% Y-o-Y in February 2017. City Cement was the only company to buck the trend, with 9% Y-o-Y growth; all other companies’ sales dropped significantly, with the highest drop for Northern (-56% Y-o-Y). Clinker balance increased further to 28.8 million tonnes.
