Iran, Saudi Arabia finalising talks on annual Haj

The Iranian supreme leader’s representative in Hajj and pilgrimage affairs, Ali Ghazi Asgar, said that talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia on the annual Hajj pilgrimage are in final stages, describing the talks as appropriate. Relations between the two countries became tense following the tragedy during annual Hajj two years ago in which 464 Iranian pilgrims lost their lives. Relations were severed after angry Iranian protesters stormed Saudi embassy in Tehran following the execution of a senior Shiite cleric by Saudi officials.
