Saudi Arabia to issue tenders for consultancy of construction sector
Saudi Arabia is planning to issue tenders to consolidate consultancy services for the government’s infrastructure projects during the coming months, according to an anonymous government source. Reuters reported that the Kingdom is planning to hire a consultancy at each ministry or state-entity to supervise its pipeline of projects instead of multiple consultants per project. The move aims to outsource these services for a five-year period, during which the winning bidders will train Saudi Arabian to manage such works in the future. Regional and foreign consultant offices with expertise in applying international project management standards are expected to win the contracts. According to the source, tendering should begin in the coming month with five-year contracts being awarded by end-2018, as the RFPs are being finalised. He added that the total value of one contract under his ministry could reach SAR5bn (USD1.3bn).
