Egypt remittances from Kuwait reportedly surged to cEGP500mn/day (cUSD32mn/day) during the past few days, according to FX bureaus in Kuwait. Three major FX bureaus indicated that Egyptians send cEGP100mn/day, each. Remittances have grown substantially since the announcement of the USD12bn IMF loan, FX bureaus told reporters. The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) Vice President, Yahia Aboul Fotouh, said last week that remittances were up fourfold since last Thursday. (El Rai, Al Mal)
