Parliament’s Communication and Information Technology committee to discuss mobile operators’ objections to 4G licence terms within days; Telecom regulator sends final 4G licence terms to operators today
Parliament’s Communication and Information Technology committee will discuss with representatives from the mobile network operators (MNOs) their objections on 4G licence terms within days. MNOs have objected to the 4G licence terms, specifically the 50% USD tranche, in addition to the exaggerated licence cost. The National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) had agreed to offer more 4G spectrum to the MNOs, but refused to give up on the 50% USD tranche payment. In related news, NTRA is set to send the final 4G licence terms to the operators today. NTRA had announced 22 September as the final deadline for the operators to accept the licence terms.
