Parliament Economic Committee wants VAT baseline below 14% for approval
Parliament’s Economics Committee wants the baseline rate for the value-added tax (VAT) reduced below 14% before it approves it, in line with recommendations proposed by the business community. The committee is planning to make the recommendation to Parliament, according to a member of the sub-committee. The committee will also recommend further goods and services be added to the exemption list. The Economics Committee has not yet completed its review of the law, and is scheduled to hold hearings, which will include industry representatives on Tuesday. (Al Mal)
