NTRA to convene with operators this week to discuss final inquiries on 4G licence terms
The National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) is set to convene with the local operators to discuss any last-minute inquiries and requests they may have on the 4G licence framework, according to an unnamed government official. The requests include i) a longer period to study all the 4G licence terms; ii) different financing options; and iii) a different alternative to the 50% USD tranche for the licence cost. In other news, NTRA has received EGP100mn-200mn from the local operators as an upfront payment for the 4G licence. According to the 4G licence framework, NTRA will receive 3% of 4G revenues in the first year of launching the service, 4% in the second year, 5% in the third year and 6% in the fourth year. NTRA also gets the right to alter the revenue-sharing fee it gets from the operators starting the fifth year. (Al Borsa, Al Mal)
