Parliament calls Amer on FX policy confusion

The parliament Economics Committee is reportedly planning to call the Central Bank Governor Tarek Amer to outline a clear FX policy. The source implies that the committee is of the opinion that Amer’s statement earlier this month – hinting devaluation plans - was a misstep and will stoke inflation. Meanwhile, importers blame the CBE Governor for the EGP’s weakness on the parallel market, and expect inflation to rise dramatically in response to the confusion, Head of the Importers Division at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce Mohamed El Naggar said.
