Pakistani troops to be sent on “training and advice mission” to Saudi Arabia
Pakistan is set to send troops to support Saudi Arabia on a “training and advice mission”, according to the military. This comes three years after it decided against sending soldiers to join the Saudi Arabian-led military intervention in Yemen. Pakistan’s Parliament had voted to remain neutral to avoid entering into a regional power struggle with its border-sharing neighbour Iran. Saudi Arabia had requested from Pakistan to provide ships, aircraft and troops for the Yemen campaign.
