According to Al Borsa, the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) is close to issuing a virtual internet service provider (ISP) licence. The licence will allow other companies to offer the internet service through the networks of the main ISPs in Egypt, TE Data, Vodafone Data, Link DSL, Etisalat Internet and Noor for a fixed predefined rate while the NTRA will get 3% of the revenues generated from the virtual ISPs. The NTRA says that cEGP1.2 billion are forgone each year due to illegal connections and that its new regulations should combat this. (Al Borsa)
