The Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA) has submitted a list of 20 local companies to Russian Power Firm, Roastom, to contribute to the local component of the Daba’a nuclear power plant project, which included Elsewedy Electric (SWDY.CA) and Orascom Construction (ORAS.CA). The local component of establishing the first nuclear reactor is set to represent 20% of the project, which will cover the construction works and electric cables, while the Russian firms will handle the development of the reactors, equipment and technology. The list also included Hassan Allam Holding, Petrojet FC and the Arab Contractors. The Daba’a nuclear power project is set to have a total capacity of 4,800MW and with an investment of up to USD30bn. The Russian government will offer Egypt a USD25bn loan for financing the project, with a 13-year term and 3% annual interest.
