NBE cuts foreign currency sale limits to travelers
National Bank of Egypt (NBE) reduced the USD-denominated limit travelers can buy to USD2000 from USD3000, according to local newspapers. The bank also decreased the maximum amount travelers can spend abroad on locally-issued credit cards to the equivalent of EGP1,600 per day from EGP8,000. HSBC Egypt also cut its USD-sale limit to travelers to USD750 from USD3,000 for regular account holders; the limit for premium account holders was cut to USD1,250 from USD5,000. (Bloomberg)
