One of India’s largest rice exporters is weighing plans to invest in food grain storage and distribution infrastructure in the Sultanate, a move it says will help bolster the food security goals of both Oman and India, as well as countries in the wider Middle East and African regions. Punjab-based Lakshmi Energy & Foods Limited, billed as the second largest rice exporting firm in India, seeks to leverage the Sultanate’s strategic geographical location to supply food grains -notably rice, wheat and pulses- to countries across the wider region.
