IMF said to be comfortable with overall reform programme, critical of FX crackdown
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is reportedly comfortable with the economic reform measures that are currently being discussed with the government, which will last till August-end. The mission has, however, expressed concerns over the recent crackdown of foreign exchange bureaus. It has also asked to be presented with planned amendments to the Central Bank, Tax and Investment laws ahead of their approval to study the implications of these on the programme. It has not met with officials from the ministries of International Cooperation, Social Solidarity, Trade, Industry, and Supply, sources said. (Al Masry Al Youm)
