IMF delegation in Egypt ahead of review for second loan installment
A delegation from the IMF has reportedly arrived in Egypt to prepare for a review required before disbursing the second installment of a USD12bn three-year loan. The fund said this month that Egypt was on track to receive the USD1.25bn second tranche of the loan pending a visit at end of February to review progress on its economic reform programme. The tranche should be disbursed by 15 March, according to the IMF proposed schedule. There are currently two delegations from the IMF in Egypt. The first reportedly arrived on Sunday and will stay until 9 February, to provide technical support and training in budget preparation and government programmes. (Reuters)
