Government to secure 18m cbm of gas per day for Siemens three power plans by December
The ministries of Electricity and Petroleum will secure the gas for the three power plants implemented by Siemens in Beni Suef, Borollos, and the New Administrative Capital to produce 4,400 MW by December. The units will first generate electricity and then feed it to the national grid in the first week of September, Chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) said. The power plants will undergo a pilot phase in September and October using 15m cbm of gas per day. Phase I of the project begins in November 2016 (producing 800 MW), phase II starts in May 2017 (5,600 MW), phase III in November 2017 (7,600 MW), phase IV in January 2018 (10,400 MW), and the last phase is in April 2018 (to produce a total of 14,400 MW). Full capacity of the three stations will then require 66m cbm of gas per day (22m cubic metres for each plant). (Daily News Egypt)
