Government signs USD530mn financing agreement with World Bank
The Minister of Investment and International Cooperation signed on 10 July 2018 a USD530mn financing agreement with the World Bank to aid in developing the country’s healthcare sector. The funds will be used to carry out a country-wide sweep for Virus C and other non-infectious diseases, such as diabetes and high blood pressure. The funds will also go towards developing 600 medical units and 27 hospitals located in the governorates where phase one of the Universal Healthcare Plan will kick off (Port Said, Al Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai, South Sinai, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, Alexandria and Marsa Matrouh).
