Government postpones all power generation projects under the 2017-22 plan
The government has decided to delay all the power generation projects included in the 2017-22 plan to the government’s 2022-27 plan, given the increased financial burden on the government post floatation of the EGP, along with current excess supply of energy due to the recent/upcoming capacity additions, according to government sources speaking to Al Mal. The list of postponed project includes: power stations in Dayrout, Damanhour, Hamraween, Attaqa and Mahmoudeya conversion to combined cycle, and Qena, for a total investment cost of c.USD15 bn.
