Government looking to issue new legislation to end tax disputes
The Head of the Tax Authority, Abdel Azim Hussein, told Enterprise that the government is currently looking to introduce a new legislation that would provide a framework to resolve tax disputes, but has no intention to increase the basic salary tax exemption. The domestic press had reported yesterday that one MP was pushing to have the House increase the basic salary tax exemption to EGP9,000 per annum, up from the EGP8,000 per annum currently imposed.
