Government considers increasing private sector minimum wage by 67%
The Minister of Manpower, Mohamed Saafan, said the ministry is considering imposing a mandatory monthly minimum wage of EGP2,000 on the private sector, up from EGP1,200 currently. The minister did not specify a timeline or mechanism for the implementation of the proposed minimum wage.
