Expo 2020 legacy plans to be unveiled during Cityscape Global
The full legacy plan for the Expo 2020 site is expected to be unveiled at the Cityscape Global conference 2017. The site is set to be converted into an area that will feature 135,000 sqm of commercial space and 65,000 sqm of residential units, and will be known as District 2020. The organising committee's plans for the site will include a new conference and an exhibition centre to be built by Dubai World Trade Centre. Major buildings will be re-used for other purposes, with the Sustainability Pavilion to be converted into a Children and Science Centre. Siemens revealed in April that it is planning to establish a global headquarters for its airports, cargo and ports logistics hub on the site once the event concludes. Al Wasl Plaza is going to be used as an event space and a community facility, and will contain public walkways and 10km of bike paths throughout.
