Expatriates to be banned from working in HR and recruitment
The Saudi Ministry of Labour will ban expatriates from working in the human resources sector and in any position in recruitment departments dealing with the hiring of workers in the private sector, according to a statement on the Ministry’s website. The Ministry is welcoming suggestions from employers in the private sector, who can submit comments on the Ministry’s portal by 23 April 2016. Once the ban is implemented (no deadline has been set yet), a fine of SAR20,000 will be imposed on firms hiring any foreigner in the specified positions and will be doubled with the number of foreigners hired, said Naif Naytah, the General Supervisor of Public Affairs at the Ministry. As of late the Kingdom, has made similar complete Saudisation moves including in the telecom industry and mobile sales and maintenance. (Saudi Gazette, Enterprise)
