Spanish company Acciona and Saudi Arabia’s Swicorp have begun constructing three large-scale PV power plants, with a combined capacity of 186MW and USD180mn investment in Aswan’s Benban Solar Park. The two companies will have 50% ownership of the projects, which are part of the phase 2 of Egypt’s feed-in tariff programme. Additionally, Enerray SpA is constructing a three ground-photovoltaic solar power plants in Benban. The plant has a combined capacity of 116MW. The construction is set to begin next month. The plant will be financed through the IFC, Asian Infrastructure Investment Banks, the Europe Arab Bank and the Green for Growth Fund. Enerray SpA is in a 25-year PPA with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company at an effective feed-in tariff of USD71/MHw.
