CITC launches investigation into sudden data price increase
The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has launched an investigation into the rise in prices of data service, according to Arab News. This came after prices were increased on 1 Jan 2018, following Saudi Arabia's implementation of VAT. The 50% price increase led to a number of complaints from users about the possibility of non-competitive practices and the monopoly in price-fixing by some service providers, Arab news quoted CITC spokesman, Adel Abu Haimed as saying. Saudi Telecom Company (STC) ) [7010.SE] and Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) [7020.SE] have increased the prices of their data packs and have withdrawn data cards from sale, without providing justification, according to Arabian Business.
