CBE shuts 10 more exchange bureaus; EGP largely stable at parallel market
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has revoked trading licence of one exchange bureau indefinitely, four bureaus for a year and six bureaus for six months. This brings the total number of shuttered exchange bureaus to 40 on speculative trading or trading beyond the official rate. One trader told reporters that there was an ongoing uncertainty amongst currency traders, and that inspections have become unannounced. Meanwhile, the EGP was largely stable against the USD at the parallel market at EGP 12.45/60 sell price and EGP 12.20/30 buy price. (Al Mal, Al Borsa)
