CBE requests banks to monitor non-performing projects in tourism and industry sectors
Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) requested banks to closely watch non-performing industrial or tourism projects in order to assess which projects could be floated and the financing that would be required to revive their activity. One banking official said that banks are currently preparing a list of projects that can be floated. The source added that banks have a deadline up until next November to communicate to the CBE the non-performing project details and documentation, along with the necessary financing to revitalise their activity. Banks are expected to communicate this information to the non-performing loans restructuring committee set up recently by the CBE, under the supervision of Gamal Nagm, CBE’s deputy Governor.
