Cabinet decides to restructure Saudia’s BoD; SaudiGulf to start operations
Cabinet of ministers announced the restructuring of the Board of Directors (BoD) of flag carrier Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia), which currently holds c90% of the domestic aviation market. The new board will include a chairman who must be appointed by the Prime Minister, the Director General of the General Organization of Saudia and a maximum of four members representing the public sector, along with five members from the private sector, who will be appointed by the Cabinet for a duration of three years renewable once. The appointment of chairman, as well as the members, will be based on the nomination of the Chairman of the Council of Economic Affairs and Development. On another note, a newly-launched domestic airline, SaudiGulf, is licenced to begin operations on 22 June 2016. (Saudi Press Agency)
