Automotive directive discussions to resume in October
The House Industry Committee is expected to resume discussions of the automotive directive when Parliament convenes in October, after having received a number of studies on the act, said the committee’s Deputy Chair, Mohamed El Ziny. The committee is looking to meet with Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Kabil to discuss the bill, which would give tax breaks and incentives to local manufacturers. The automotive directive has been put on hold for several months now due to objections by key parties including car importers and the EU.
