Aramex invests USD2.9 mn Series B funding with what3words
Aramex PJSC (ARMX.DU) invested USD2.94 mn as part of the USD8.5 mn Series B funding round with what3words, an addressing platform, an investment that promotes Aramex’s global e-commerce operations. Aramex will utilise the “what3words” address system it its e-commerce fulfillment operations in the Middle East, Africa, in enhancing its last-mile delivery solutions. Aramex has already earlier invested in a number of mobile-based start-ups offering last-mile delivery solutions, including: Grab and Logisure in India, Shippify in South America and CashBasha in Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The “last mile deliveries” accounts for 28% of all delivery costs, according to the CEO of Aramex, Hussein Hachem. what3words is an address system based on a global grid of 57 trillion 3mx3m squares, where each square has a unique pre-assigned 3-word address.
