Al Tayyar Travel Group (1810.SE) has signed an agreement with Choice Hotels International, a global hotel operator, and Equinox Group (40%-owned by Al Tayyar) to set up and operate 25 hotels in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Combined, the hotels are expected to have 8,000 rooms and will be operated under Choice’s top three economy-oriented hotel brands, namely Clarion, Comfort and Quality, said Shuja Zaidi president of Equinox. The hotels should be completed by 2021. Al Tayyar acquired its stake in Equinox Group, which provides consulting for asset management in the hospitality industry, in addition to advisory services for hotel management in August 2016.
