Abu Dhabi signs with GE and Spain's TSK for Oman's first big wind farm
Abu Dhabi renewable energy company Masdar has signed a contract with General Electric and Spain's TSK to build Oman's first large-scale wind farm in Dhofar, UAE state news agency WAM reported on Sunday. GE will provide the 13 turbines for the 50 megawatt wind farm in the south of the country while TSK will build other parts of the facility, which is being financed by aid from the Abu Dhabi government, WAM said. WAM did not give a value for the project or say when it would be completed, but Oman's state-owned Rural Areas Electricity Co said last year that construction was expected to cost USD125mn.
