A World bank delegation is due to visit Egypt early March to discuss progress on the economic reform agenda, according to Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Sahar Nasr. Central Bank (CBE) Governor, Tarek Amer, said last week that the second USD1bn tranche of the World Bank’s USD3bn loan would be disbursed this month as per a signed agreement last December. The first tranche of the loan was disbursed in September. Nasr had also engaged in talks back in January with the World Bank for USD400mn in funding for labour-intensive projects and SME development, and the Ministry of Trade and Industry is currently negotiating a USD150mn funding facility for infrastructure development, social services, and training and employment opportunities in the poorest areas, Minister Tarek Kabil said.
