Vestas to submit offer to Electricity Ministry for 2,200 MW Wind Farm for USD2.2 bn
Vestas, a global wind energy company, is planning to submit an official offer next week to the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy for the development of wind farms with a total capacity of 2,200 MW and USD2.2bn investment cost, according to a company source speaking to Al Borsa. The project will be financed through an EPC+ Finance scheme. The planned offer will include: the total cost of the project, the banks financing the project, the required land space and a proposition of constructing a plant for maintaining the ‘blades’ for the turbines in Egypt. Earlier last month, Electricity Minster, Mohamed Shaker, met with Vestas management, along with the Danish Ambassador in Cairo, where he requested the company to submit an official offer and proposals for renovating Zaafrana wind farm. Vestas plans on starting executing the project within four months and is ready to construct the first plant generating 250 MW, out of the 2,200 MW upon signing the contract. (Al Borsa)
