United Bank of Egypt to boost its capital by EGP1bn
United Bank of Egypt (UBE) is in talks with the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to raise its capital by EGP1bn through the transfer of a portion of the EGP5bn supporting loan the bank received from the CBE in 2013. Sources said that the move aims to support the bank’s capital base and support its growth plans, adding that the issue is still under discussion with the CBE, the key shareholder of UBE. Up until 2013, CBE granted a total supporting loans worth EGP5.7bn to UBE in order to help the bank face its non-performing loans and support its capital. (Al Mal)
