Tourist numbers from the UK rise in 2016, despite weaker GBP
The UK was Dubai’s third largest source of tourists in 2016, with 1.24mn tourists, an increase of 5% Y-o-Y. In Abu Dhabi, the UK was the second largest market with more than 238,000 hotel guests, an increase of 3% Y-o-Y. Four star hotels expect to attract guests away from luxury properties this year as UK tourists adjusts to the devaluation of the GBP. According to travel agents security fears particularly in Egypt and Turkey have contributed to an increase in UK tourists visiting the UAE. (The National)
