Tourist arrivals slumped 41% Y-o-Y to 473,000 tourists in September, data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed. Tourism nights were down 55.6% Y-o-Y to reach 3.1mn nights, compared to 6.9mn nights in September 2015. Tourism revenue were USD3.77bn in FY15/16, down from cUSD12bn before 2011. Egypt’s Finance Minister Amr Al Garhy had said in August that tourism revenue are estimated to reach USD5bn in 2016 from USD6.1bn in 2015. (Reuters)
