According to the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH), Saudi regions received as many as 11.3 million tourists who spent a total of more than SAR13.5bn on their trips during the summer months. The Commission said spending saw an increase of about 12% over the previous summer, Saudi Gazette reported. The Commission’s Center for Information and Tourist Research said there were more than 2.3 million tourist trips inside the Kingdom made by foreign tourists; this is an increase of 21.2% over the previous year, it said. According to the Center, average expenditure of each tourist was SAR1,196. It said most of the foreign tourists came from GCC countries, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, East Asia and the Pacific, North America and Africa.
