Telecom regulator forms committee with operators to discuss 4G licence terms
The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has formed a committee with the operators to discuss the 4G licence terms. The mobile network operators (MNOs) sent their comments and concerns to NTRA this week. The said committee is expected to conclude the discussions with the operators before the first week of August, according to an unnamed source close to the discussions. The MNOs’ main concerns include i) the scarcity of the offered spectrum for the 4G service; ii) price of the 4G and the virtual fixed-line licences; and iii) sourcing FX liquidity for the payment of 50% of the licence as previously announced.
